On a Lighter Note...

I haven't fallen this entire winter.

I have remained on my two feet and sturdy.

Despite the constant freeze/thaw/freeze action we have been experiencing practically all winter, I have managed to avoid slipping in the skating rinks that most parking lots have become.

Until yesterday.

I went to open my car door, for some reason ignoring the fact that I had managed to park on a particularly slick chunk of ice. Somehow, someway, the force of my opening the door caused me to lose my balance. My top half went backwards with the door, and my bottom half... well, my bottom half slid right under my car.

I sat there for a minute assessing the situation. Most concerned about the incisions from a surgery I had just one month ago. But once I realized that all was well and I was fine, I started cracking up.

Because there I was, more than halfway under my car. Dirty, wet, and likely soon to be very bruised.

I almost had a perfect record for the winter of 2010/2011.

Oh well. Maybe next year.
