Exactly

I woke up this morning with a sore throat.

A sore throat I have been fighting since Thursday.

A sore throat that would seem to be winning, despite my best efforts to stop it.

And so; I stayed in bed.

Reasoning that in 2 days I am getting a crown, and in 3 days I am undergoing a butt probe.

I can’t afford to be sick.

So here I sit, sipping my ginger and chamomile tea with lemon and honey, gargling my salt water, and popping my ViraCon capsules.

Determined to beat the sickness before the sickness beats me.

Of course, that has rendered me completely useless on what was supposed to be my first day of Random Acts. I can’t really do anything nice for anyone else from the confines of my own bed.

But then – I had an idea.

Music is a pretty big deal in my life. I have long believed that there were songs for every mood, occasion, and feeling imaginable.

Songs for making out, working out, and getting through a breakup.

Even songs that can lift you up when you’re feeling as though you’ve hit the lowest of lows.

I have a playlist I tend to go to when life’s feeling a bit rough. It’s full of the music that helps to soothe me, when nothing else seems to do the trick.

And I also just so happen to have a case of blank disks – for whenever the urge to burn new music hits me.

Like I said, I’m big on music. And giving people CD’s with music I think they’ll like is not an uncommon practice of mine.

So – I took that playlist of songs that I turn to when the world outside is bleak, and I cut it down. Choosing my favorites of the tunes there and burning them onto a handful of disks.

Disks which I’m thinking I will start writing inspirational quotes on tomorrow (despite my abysmal handwriting).

And then on the days when random acts elude me and I can’t think of a single other thing to do for someone else, I’ll have those CD’s to fall back on.

Because how simple is it to leave a CD on someone’s car and hope that they find the same level of inspiration from the music as I do?

I’ll admit; I’ve gotten more than a little excited about this idea of mine today.

Most of the music on the Random Acts playlist are songs I’ve left here before. It is, after all, a compilation of my favorite tunes!

But I figured that in the spirit of random acts and uplifting music, I would post one of the songs from the list here every time I give out one of those CD’s.

Because I truly do think this is music that everyone should have. Music meant to lift the spirit and inspire you to continue moving forward.

Always.

No matter what.

So in the spirit of that today (and the fact that I found myself too sickly to venture out of my house to do anything else), I want to leave you with the first song on that list.

It’s one of my all time favorites, and I know I’ve posted it here more than once, but… That’s only because I love it so much.

It really is such a good song for when you’re feeling down in the dumps.

Such a good reminder that no matter where you are in your life; you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Exactly.

Would you listen to it?

If you came out to your car after a day of shopping, and found a CD sitting on your windshield; would you take the time to listen to it?

I know I would. I would be too curious to know what tunes were there that someone thought enough of to share with a stranger. I would have that thing in my cars CD player in seconds!

But would you?

Share it
